Diatite Victorian Frame w/ 1868 Grant & Colfax Presidential Campaign Card
Card measures approx: 2 ¼ x 4 inches. Outer dimensions of frame are: 4 × 5 ½ inches (not including the round part on top). Hard to see in photos, but on back, their is a label, saying: “Patented DIATITE July 1868”. The campaign card also is from the ‘68 election. I thought that they went so well together, that i’d offer them for sale together. Google, “diatite frame” for more info. they are often depicted with ‘mourning’ images, but because both of these items dated the same, and fit so well together, I thought, ‘why not?!” This is a more uncommon type of frame, typically you see the rounded/oval types. Note: this is a minor ‘spot’ near top that looks as if it has lost its ‘veneer’ so to speak, very tiny spot.
